Stitchin' Addiction
Artist Bio / Statement
Tiffany is the owner/operator of Stitchin’ Addiction, a small business that designs, makes, and sells women’s 19th century clothing that is inspired by strong historical women and literary heroines. Throughout her teen and young adult years, Tiffany found solidarity and encouragement in reading about protagonists such as Jo March (of Little Women fame), Elizabeth Bennet (of Pride and Prejudice fame), and Anne (of Anne of Green Gables fame), as well as historical women who challenged social conventions. These literary and historical figures inspired her to create a historical clothing line. Using 30 years of sewing experience and meticulous attention to historical fashion construction and style, each Stitchin’ Addiction garment is inspired by a specific literary or historical character.
One of the fundamental beliefs of Stitchin' Addiction is that everyone deserves to feel beautiful. In action, this means that each garment is made to the client's measurements, and the size range offered extends from extra small to 5X. Although the historical fashion offered was traditionally worn by females, Tiffany makes all styles to fit any gender.
Dharma’s cotton voile and cotton lawn are perfect for many 19th century garments. Tiffany has used them for every era, from white Regency dresses and accessories (such as chemisettes) to white Victorian dresses, pinafores, and accessories. The fabric quality never disappoints and is perfect to recreate historical garments.
