What is sublimation and how does it work? Well, sublimation is a great, professional way to personalize shirts, coasters, puzzles, mousepads and more. It is similar to heat transfer, however, it is a process where the image becomes an actual part of the item. Sublimation uses special paper, ink and polyester-coated items that all react with each other. When heated to high temperatures sublimation ink turns into a gas and the pores of the polyester coated item open up allowing the gas to enter. Then, once removed from the heat the pores of the polyester close up trapping the ink inside. Sublimation items are smooth to the touch. If you run a finger over the image you won't feel an outline. The color is so much more vibrant than the inkjet heat transfer paper it's ridiculous!
Sublimation Paper must be used in conjunction with the sublimation ink to work. We supply a printer package deal which gives you everything you need to get started on making professional shirts and accessories. Our Sublimation Paper delivers true, consistent color from digital image print with photo quality transfers. This paper is sure to get the job done whether the substrate is a soft polyester fabric or hard ceramic tile.
This paper is not meant to be used on any fabrics other than 100% polyester and is only meant for printers compatible with sublimation inks. Unlike our ink jet transfer paper, which works well with a hand iron, you must have a heat press for the sublimation process. To view a selection of our heat presses click here.
