These are special three prong round metal tacks which are said by many experienced silk painters to be the best for holding silk onto a wood frame. But be careful, if wet they can stain the silk. They are made of steel and nickel plated. These are actually useful for stretching any kind of thinner fabric, not just silk. Great for stretching cottons for Batik and hand painting, just generally useful to have around!

Not so happy with my latest batch. Many have shattered as I've hammered them in . Never happened before so must be a bad batch. Unfortunate as they are not cheap but I find them the best way of holding down silk scarves

You were out of the stainless steel ones I usually order. I live in FL & the thunbtacks get rusty in the humidity here. We will see how long they hold up in this climate.

Unfortunately like my other Silk Thumbtacks rust when I use Salt as part of my paintingdying process. Do you have any rustproof ones. I am trying the suspension hooks but I think they will go rusty too. Many thanks.

After many happy years of use I'm running out of the stronger better stainless steel version of these and do not want to order the cheaper ones that can easily bend and rust. PLEASE obtain the stainless steel variety for us!!!

I have bought these thumbtacks since 2011. For many years they worked well. But recent batches have been poor - points are not as sharp as they used to be they bend and break easily and I had to find another solution to stretch my silk.

Great concept BUT the points bent and break after 1st use. Too expensive for one-time used. Better and cheaper if I use traditional thumbtacks.

These are wonderful to hold the silk in place. Very sturdy and don't get in the way when you are painting.
