The Male Half Scale Dress Form is ideal for students and instructors.
Sewing instructors can use it as an effective way to teach sewing skills and students learn construction skills without having to worry about fit. Often times there is more of a willingness to try a new technique without feeling the pressure of someone having to wear the piece. Also, the student has a permanent sample that can always be checked again for how-to.
The base and foot pedal are uniquely designed in the Victorian style. It allows the dress form to easily lift up and lower down to the height needed. The pin-able dress form is covered by linen with bump out side seams allowing you feel them when draping with fabric. The topper on this form is plastic and mimics the Victorian appearance of the base.
Why bother with a half scale form?
Well, custom dressmakers can use the half scale to exhibit their work for customers, enabling customers to get an idea of the garment much more clearly. The mock up design can be created in the actual fabric, since so little is used, allowing all of its characteristics to show through realistically.
It's remarkably handy to be able to see the entire form while still standing near enough to make changes to the design. The eye can accurately gauge the best proportions for the body and design and better predict how the fabric will behave.
