Paints and Dyes for Painting Silk, Wool, Nylon Fabrics

Pros: Bright colors! Easy to use, water-based, non-toxic thin paint that can be an alternative for dye, heliographic (can be used full strength for sun painting)
Cons: Not available in larger sizes (250ml max)

Pros: Versatile, thin flowable paint for silk painting and many other uses on most fabrics, even untreated leather. Easy to use, non-toxic, very economical, comes in various sizes, great for teachers
Cons: We couldn't think of any!

Pros: Economical liquid dye for silk painting. Diluting not required. Can be used with its own fixative or can be steam set, making it great for beginners.
Cons: Limited color palatte, colors less intense than French dyes, i.e. not a concentrate. Fixative does not result in as brilliant a color as steam setting.

Pros: Has so many uses! Photograms, Painting, Tie dyeing, Screen printing, Sun Printing, Stamping and Batik.
Cons: Not available in larger sizes, not meant for large dyeing projects, light sensitive.

Pros: Luminous, intense, rich dye colors. Very concentrated. Huge color range, intermixable to form new colors. Dyes
Cons: must be steam set, cannot use a fixative

Pros: Economical concentrated liquid dye for silk painting. Brilliant deep colors. As good as French dyes, for less money!
Cons: Limited color palette. Must be steamset!

Pros: Has different consistencies for sunpainting (Transparent Colors) or painting over a dark color (Opaque colors), or enhancing with a metallic (Pearlescent Colors)

Pros: The shiniest, most luminous metallic colors, the best coverage on dark fabrics, also works great on leather, wood and paper. Great for shoe painting!

Pros: The softest hand or feel, on fabric of all our opaque/metallic fabric paints. Requires no heat setting, and still holds up to washing very well. Colors are very opaque, provide good coverage. Non-toxic.
Cons: Not available in larger sizes.

Pros: No heat set required, excellent coverage, water-based acrylic, easy to clean up, many colors to chose from
