AlphaFlex is a water-based acrylic specifically designed with the art of shoe and clothing customization in mind. Packed with pigment, this paint is thick and covers amazingly well; far more opaque than anything else we've seen and fewer coats means bigger savings in both time and money! Dry time is super fast and end result remains flexible and vivid.
This line is packed with options. The base coat of paint will have a pretty matte finish giving your paints a great launching pad but after your designs are laid out and you want more matte or more gloss, there are topcoats for that! If you're planning to paint a floppy hat or snazz up your daily wear kicks there is also a Flexible additive so you can be extra sure your project will take all of the twisty-turny, wear and tear you can throw at it.
Don't forget about preparation!
The most import steps are the first steps and when it comes to leather and fabrics there can be any number of topcoats, sizing or finishes that will block your paint's adhesion, dull the look and cause cracking and flaking. Grab some Stripper/Deglazer and some Leather and Textile Cleaner and get to work making the foundation for your next graphic sensation.
For fabric, after a good clean, a coat of the Water Based Primer/Basecoat will ensure the colors don't become muddled by seeping into the porous material. One coat should be plenty and you'll retain the textured hand of the fabric you're working with. Looking for a smoother feel? More coats of the Primer can be added to build up an even backdrop for your design.
Prep work is all done and you're ready to get started.
Make sure to shake the colors well. Each bottle has a little metal bead in it to aid in mixing. If the bottle has been sitting for a while just pop the top off and stir, stir, stir.
Since this is a heavily pigmented paint you always want to be sure your mixing each color very well before using.
When you're ready to apply, remember, less is more.
Start with single, even coats and add more if needed. Wait for it to dry before adding additional coats. It's much harder to remove paint than it is to put it on! When properly applied, AlphaFlex paint will provide a flexible, permanent, water resistant finish. For application of fabric it is recommended that you heat set, and let cure for a day or two.
