Silk Knit fabric is one of the most luxurious types of silk fabric. It has a drape like no other and has a super soft hand that will send chills down your spine! Light as a feather, strong as steel, with superior insulating and moisture wicking properties. Soft ivory color "dyeing" to be colored with your choice of acid or natural dyes. Take advantage of the tubular construction to make seamless infinity scarves!
This silk knit is the same fabric our silk knit underwear garments (fairly sheer) are made from. It is 100% silk, approximately 100 grams per square meter, and comes in a 22" wide tube. This fabric comes in a bag instead of a bolt.
Fabric Details
- 100% Silk Jersey
- 2-way stretch
- 3 oz. per sq yd. - slightly sheer (see picture above with black behind the fabric)
- 100g/m2, 22" wide tube (44" wide)
- Suggested usage: scarves, under garments or layering garments, etc.
- Can be difficult to work with as edges will begin to unravel when cut, curl when lying still - in other words, behaves like a knit!
- We found that this shrinks 6% in Length and 7% in Width disclaimer
- Available in cut yardage and in approximately 35 yard bags
- Machine wash in any temperature water
Remember, bolts vary! They can be over or under - we charge you for the actual yardage. If you need very specific yardage, order cut yardage.

I bought 1 yard to test cut it in half and turned it into 2 infinity scarves 18" high and 44" around. They're long enough to loop twice around the neck and not be tight. No finishing of edges was necessary--- there was no raveling or running. Dyed them with cochineal and indigo. Love the result. Simplest scarves ever and beautiful. Nice transitional weight.

Like the first snow on the ground delicate and unique can't wait to turn this into regal undergarments! If I had one complaint it would be that for such cold climate as mine (Iceland) I would have bought a slightly heavier quality had it been possible.

I ordered 4 yds. because I couldn't believe how reasonable the cost and honestly I was a little nervous. Despite the difference in the dollar shipping and $25 customs charge it was still reasonable - roughly $15yd. It is lightweight (see-through) but I wanted it to make undershirts anyway which you want to be light. It's great quality! Had enough left over to make up a couple of pairs of panties as well.

Friends and fellow artists- you may use it for undies but after seeing a top Italian Designer skirt and blouse- I bought it to make a travel ensemble I double layered the skirt slacks and topper and kept a single layer for the blouse. It took Dharma acid dye gloriously then I painted a multi layered design on some of the fabric-afterwards it has been washed more than 20 times and never bleeds. It is also rather wrinkle resistant in garments and I wad it up stuff it into a duffle then hang it out at my destination and wrinkles disappear in a few hours. Worth the money.

This light weight semi-sheer silk knit was exactly what I was expecting. When dyed it becomes semi-opaque depending upon color and was perfect from my end use. The tubular width may be tricky to work with for some and the narrow width may result in more waste if making tee shirts etc.
