Gaia Worsted is certified organic, which means it nurtures the animal from which it comes. It's a 4 ply merino, light worsted to dk weight, and ideal for soft, hand washable garments. It's feltable too.

What it means to be GOTS certified is that a product meets that organization's standards for how the fiber is grown, cultivated, processed and dyed. GAIA Yarns are GOTS certified. That is, the fiber is organic and the mill that the yarn is spun in also meets Organic standards.

Of course this wool felted. Its not Superwash!! I dyed it kept water temps consistent and had no felting issues at all. It turned out beautifully!

Yarn readily felts. Ten to thirty strands stick together in long clumps. that means yarn will lose twist in spots as dry strands pulled apart to form a skein. it will bloom significantLy rubbing across your clothes as you knit. On the plus side: very soft and cuddly.

This yarn is absolutely perfect for my application. I knit it up into large swatches on a bulky Brother knitting machine. It's the perfect gauge for the machine and it is smooth and knits up with ease. Then I full the swatches--and this yarn fulls (felts) like a dream! Then I dye with Jacquard acid dyes. Excellent results.

Syringe dyed yarn steamed. Felted and shrunk 10 inches per 3 yards (9.2%) Knitted 12 inch square sample: size 10 needles 17 stitches16 rows4 inches. Washed in laundry bag with load of clothes. Felted sample shaped to 10.25 inches square. Conclusion: when wet this yarn has great affinity to stick together and felt. resulting bloom was so thick that I had to trim the fuzz with scissors when checking sections for any stitch errors. in my hands at least felted objects are all I would make with this yarn.

This is not a worsted weight yarn. Its really somewhere between a sock yarn and a sport weight. Im not sure why they classified it this way :
