I am so excited to see this! Modal is rayon but without the "cold" hand that most rayon has. This feels like buttery soft cotton. It stretches in both directions but there's more stretch in the width than the length. The weight is 6 oz square yard which makes it a light to medium weight jersey.

This is wonderfully soft fabric with a nice stretch. I am using it for underwear and will be using to make a pair of pants for an adult who is tactually defensive. It does slip a when being cut (typical of this type of Jersey) though not as bad as most. I would recommend cutting this Rayon twice the first time doing a gross cut to take the weight off the fabric and then a final detailed cut. Also try cutting it sandwiched between two pieces of paper using lots of pins or weights to eliminate the chance of the fabric moving while you cut. I found that sewing with some paper (I used butcher paper but tissue or tear away stabilizer paper might have been okay too) under the sewing line of the fabric helpful else my fabric got sucked into my sewing machine plate. Be sure to use a stretch stitch or zigzag stitch. As always when using a stretch fabric us the proper "stretch knit" needle in your machine.

This fabric has gorgeously soft hand fabulous drape and wonderful stretch but it simply doesn't take dye well. No matter how strong a concentration of dye I used I could not get a color beyond a mid range intensity. I think it has something to do with the downy soft surface of the fiber because the dye looks intense when wet in the vat but as it dries it fades and becomes much more pastel. If you look closely you can see that there is a fuzzy surface to the fabric that stands out and stays white after dying.I wanted to love this fabric and I do love the way it feels but after several experiments with dye concentrations length of time in the vat and different colorways I have to admit that I will not buy it again. I need the option of full-on color intensity and this fabric can't deliver.

A little thin. It fuzzes up a bit after washing once so it looks like it's been washed several times. Easy to sew with the right needle (ball point or universal use a size 10 or 11)

This is not something I'd recommend to a beginner sewist but if you know what you're about it's a treat. Sewed a cowl-neck top from it and then dyed it. Had to use a rotary cutter to cut it spent ages getting it to lie perfectly flat and then had to cut it with enormous care. To sew it I had to sandwich it between two pieces of tissue paper to keep either the presser foot or the feed dogs from distorting it as it went. But it sucked up dye beautifully I used a ton of dye on it (tie dye method) and let it cure in a plastic bag in the sun for a day and when I rinsed it the water came clear so fast-- the cotton I'd dyed at the same time took ages to rinse clear. The colors stayed more intense than on the cotton too. It looks amazing and it's so soft!

I use this fabric for tons of products. Soft great drape. Currently running a little on the lighterthinner side as noted but still worth it. Takes dye beautifully.

This modal jersey is absolutely gorgeous. Feels like cotton but has the beautiful drape you want to see in modal. It is on the thin side but definitely not too thin for tops and cardigans. For skirts I'd probably line it. I make a lot of tops for myself in rayon jersey and this is definitely the best quality I've seen. (I'm new to dyeing so I can't comment on how well this dyes. However rayon has a reputation for taking dye well.)
