Dye Me to the Moon

Artist Bio / Statement
I am a fiber artist specializing in hand-dyed fabric to create unique designs. In my winter home of Mazatlan, Mexico, I hold frequent dye classes, participate in the local First Friday Artwalk, and volunteer with a local group of women who sew for a living. Recently, I have been teaching them to silk paint, which they have been enjoying greatly (I was inspired by February 2008’s featured artist, “Silkpainting in Haiti”). In BC, my solitary life gives me more time to create my wares, which I sell out of a local artisan’s co-operative. Dharma is my sole choice for the majority of the products I use: Procion MX dyes, cotton by the bolt, silk, and the Dye-Na-Flo class kit for teaching the local women here.
As I have little opportunity for taking outside classes, I love acquiring some of the high quality instructional videos and books to help me refine my craft. Thank you, Dharma, for 10 years of faithful and professional service.
