I am a fiber artist and art educator living in Fort Mill, South Carolina, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2004, I began to explore the diverse effects of silk painting and found a strong connection with the fluid movement and brilliant colors of the dye. When I put the brush to the silk and see the beauty in the mixture of two mediums, there is a satisfaction in the understanding of such a meticulous process. Exclusively applying Dharma products, I layer color to create form and texture, counting missteps as design elements that are sometimes more beautiful and interesting than the original concept. In this manner, I try to connect with the viewer through my work. I share the pleasure of discovering the beauty in the world around me. I am fueled by nature, the breadth of colors, textures, and organic shapes and forms. My fine art and wearable works are the mixture of abstraction and reality which reflects my particular experiences in life. I am interested in design, arranging shapes and colors while exploring the diversity of forms and structures. I find that silk painting is the best medium to do that.
