The Permawriter II pen is permanent on both porous and non-porous surfaces. It is acid-free and great for writing on fabric, glass, plastic, metal, vellum, ceramics, photos, and all types of paper. This pen has black ink.

I got the 03 black for signing my silk and didn't like it. The tip is sharp and catches on the silk doesn't write smoothly and the ink spreads and bleeds.

They are not black they are dark dark gray.Compare to Rub -a-Dub by Sharpie and Black fine line Fabric pens sold by Dritz

These produced a fuzzy starry line when used for artwork on the silk fans I bought. They do the same on paper. The write up recommendation on the website was not accurate and these pens are not suitable for this kind of work imho. Return was offered but shipping back overseas was too expensive. Disappointed.

I have looked everywhere for a pen or marker to write on the backs of photos that would dry quickly without smudging. Nothing I've tried (and im a bit of a pen enthusiast) has worked well. Someone at a large office supply store told me that one didn't exist. Soon after I came across this on Dharma Trading and was so hopeful. It is even better than I could have wished! Dried instantly and has a crisp point. Not one smear smudge or transfer. Love these!!

These pens are fabulous! They are the only pens I can count on not to run or bleed in heated dye baths. But the last time I ordered them at least 13 of the order included pens that were dried up. The rest were fine. Dharma refunded the purchase price for the pens that did not work - thank you Dharma. Maybe there is a shelf life for these pens. I would like to continue purchasing them but would also like to be reassured that they will work.

I have used these pens for drawing on paper for years and they are wonderful The ink does not smear. The writing line stays true and does not spread regardless of the pressure It dries very fast I have yet to find any medium that it does not write well on
