This silk fabric has a soft, lustrous and supple hand. Perfect for beginners as it is economical, has a smooth surface and lends itself to most painting techniques. Good for fairly sheer scarves, pillows, linings, very light weight flags and more.

- 100% Habotai Silk
- 5mm, 36", 45", or 55" wide
- You can dye this with Acid Dyes
- We found that this shrinks 8% in Length and 1% in Width disclaimer
- Available in cut yardage (bulk discounts levels at 10+ yds.), 56 yards bolts
- Machine wash in any temperature water
Remember, bolts vary! They can be over or under - we charge you for the actual yardage. If you need very specific yardage, order cut yardage.

I bought this to use for nuno felted scarves. It has more luster than the 8mm chiffon I had been using shrinks less in my dye bath and during felting and is less expensive. I am a convert!

I have been using this silk habotai fabric for nuno felting.It has worked well and most importantly it has taken the dyes beautifully. This has been my first attempt at nuno felting a scarf and I found it very rewarding. Thank you Dharma for providing quality products for my work.

Dyes beautifully though very delicate and easy to tear. If you have fumble fingers like me maybe choose a different weight. Highly recommend this fabric for painting with dye or printing with dye.

I have bought many yards of this silk over the past decade. The last time I needed it no bolts were available for purchase... just pieces. I asked for and received (in record time) eight 3.5 yards pieces. Thank you for your customer service!

I really have no basis of comparison as this is my first silk purchase. The price was excellent and the material is going to suit my needs very well. Can't speak to dying it as I'm just using it for lining purposes. Will definitely be buying from this company again.

At 5mm t is very thin. As a matter of fact I thought it was too thin but afterdyeing it turquoisecobaltgreen it turned out lovely. Nice sheen.
