I started out by getting some natural dye products from Dharma and then went on to Procion MX Dyes and Setacolor Transparent fabric paints. I have purchased hankies that I batiked with copper Tjaps from Dharma, but mostly work with 100% cotton fabrics. The picture of the back of the quilt is done with Setacolor Transparent fabric paints because I could not find colors that would go with the front. I usually add salt to or leaves and other items to make a pretty design with the Setacolor. The fish has a background that was discharged with bleach and I purchased the Bleach-Stop from Dharma as well as Bleach Thickener. But mostly, I enjoy making designs by folding or wadding the fabric prior to adding the Procion MX Dyes. Or, batiking a design in wax and then adding the Procion MX Dye. The big red cosmos flower was both Procion MX Dye and Setacolor Transparent fabric paints.
