A wannabe artist all her life, Janice Opie wakes up thinking what creativity will be done today. Worldwide travel from 19 years of age, to finally settling in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and getting married at 45, has left her with more artistic ideas than she has time for. There were some periods of creativity interrupted by another debarking of a plane, boat, or hitched ride, not even knowing where she would sleep that night. Even today, she does house exchange for vacation.
Her website, www.opiesarts.com, shows her multidisciplinaries that keep taking on more and more. Dharma Trading and silk were seized upon in October 2005. She pondered over what to buy on her first order. Communication for details was always there from Dharma, ensuring confident decisions. Paj silk, crepe de chine, habotai, chiffon, scarves, Dupont Dyes, Jacquard Dyes, Procion Dyes, Dye-na-Flow and more were settled on. The extensive in-detail information from the Dharma website and catalog helped Janice slowly ease into an explosion of ideas. Dupont and Jacquard have brilliant colours after a bout in her upright steamer. The Dye-na-Flow heat set paints are perfect for that undetectable post steam pin size touch up, negating re-steaming. Of course, availability to other artists for that cyber hug and encouragement offered through Dharma was always there. Blouses, jackets, scarves, fine art, and tea dipped paj curtains are manifesting in her home.
She now has her eyes on securing a spot at the "One of a Kind" show to be featured as a "Rising Star" to in Toronto, Canada showcasing her silks!! By the time she gets there... she feels she will be wielding that dye ridden applicator with gusto. Need answers and encouragement, brain storming, and a room with a view? jan@opiesarts.com. Thank you Dharma
