DMC Pearl Cotton is a highly mercerized, non-divisible, lustrous 100% cotton thread. The twist of the thread is how it received its Pearl description. During the manufacturing process, the thread is combed, singed by flame and then double mercerized.
The thread is soft, silky, does not fluff or kink and dyes up beautifully with a little Procion dye. Pearl Cotton Balls come in size 5, 8 and 12, on a 10 gram ball put-up and are available in the following yardages:
When using Pearl Cotton for crochet it is important to match the proper crochet hook to the size thread you are using. DMC recommends steel crochet hook sizes for the different sizes of Pearl Cotton Balls:

Dyes absolutely beautifully. Dyed without washing it first and it seemed fine will try dying after washing. I throw a length in with my fabric squares to match for quilting decoration!
