Let's get started!
If your shirt is still tied up and slightly damp from discharging you are ready to start, if you are using a white shirt then first dampen it with water and then tie/fold/bind it how you wish. Keep in mind that the more tightly you you bind and tie the fabric, the more fabric will be protected from the pigment and will remain its original color. If you want more color, bind and fold less tightly and be sure to get the paint down into the folds and crevasses.
The AirBrush Colors can be applied right out of the bottle or but we strongly recommend that you dilute them with water (no more than 50%). Keep in mind that the more water you add the less vibrantly the fabric will react to blacklight. We wanted the most saturated color and intense UV Glow so we used them as it, but this does make for a much stiffer final feel on the fabric.
Apply the diluted AirBrush Colors to the fabric (squirt, spray, sponge, brush). Work it in with your fingers as you go. The pigment is thin and flowable but it doesn't flow the same as a dye does.
Once you have done one side, flip your shirt and make sure the other side is also covered. The paints will not always soak all the way through the same as a dye.
When you are happy with the coverage, set the fabric sit somewhere where it can start to dry. Allow it to dry on the surface just enough to avoid too much color getting on your fingers (use gloves too if needed). When you can handle it without too much color transfer, cut the rubber bands or ties and untie/unfold/unbind the fabric to allow it to completely dry. To speed up the rest of the drying, use a hairdryer or fan.
Let your shirt fully dry and cure for 1-2 days. Once it's fully dry, iron the fabric on the hottest setting to fully fix the paint. If you used Airfix, allow at least 4 days for the paints to air cure.
Now that the paint is dry and cured it will be slightly stiff since we are using a paint. To help soften the fabric, put it into a tumble dryer with tennis ball or dryer balls and tumble it HOT for at least 30 minutes. To soften further, soak the fabric in warm water and your preferred fabric softener, then rinse the shirt and let it hang dry.
Iron the shirt to remove any creases. Rock this as-is or add your favorite image or design using Opaque Transfer Paper!
Turn up the music and you are ready to party under the black lights!
