Getting accurate body measurements is most often the use of a tailor's tape measure, but they can really be used for any measuring task.
Made of a non-stretch, heavy duty vinyl, they are flexible but firm. Everyone should have at least one of these in their sewing kit.

With 96 inches clearly marked out on one side, and 243.84 centimeters on the other, it's a snap getting just the right length, width, height, depth and distance!
Remember, "measure twice, cut once".
