A substantial kit, containing enough materials to batik in the traditional method of tub dyeing successive layers of color and wax, and also the method of painting dye on to get color in specific areas before waxing, then tub dyeing another color at the end.
The book that we used to include, 'Introduction to Batik' by Griffin and Holmes, is unfortunately out of print, but we have a great new book that we are including in the kit now, Start to Batik by the famous Batik artist Rosi Robinson.
If you want to also check our other batik books, Creative Batik, also by Rosi Robinson, is very very thorough with lots of eye candy, and Tie-dye to Die For & Batik You Can't Resist by Jacquard, is a less expensive book with a small section in the back on batik where it tells you the beginner's basics. You can batik on clothing, scarves, gifts, create your own custom fabrics for quilting or whatever!
You'll also need: A double boiler or old electric fry pan to melt the wax in, some salt for vat dyeing, and something to batik.
