Ray Bloc for Clothing is an advanced water-based formula that is sprayed onto clothing to protect the wearer from harmful UVA and UVB radiation. It works to increase the UPF rating and reflect both UV radiation and converting UV rays into other forms of harmless energy.
Ray Bloc is formulated to last through numerous wash cycles, dries odor free and will not affect the color, feel, flexibility or breath-ability of the treated fabric. It has no harsh chemicals or aerosols. It's environmentally friendly and does not have a heavy chemical or solvent smell.
An 8 ounce will do up to 40 square feet, 16 ounce can do up to 80 square feet, 32 ounce up to 160 square feet, depending on fabric type and application method. The bottles come with high output triggers so be sure not to over apply. Spray clothes until damp and activate by using a heated dryer or hand iron. Try a single coat first, dry and then test for water resistance. If liquid beads up and rolls off of the clothing you're protected!
Not sure your clothing is still protected?
Sprinkle water on the treated item and if the water beads, it's still protected. If only used for a short time, try to rejuvenate the protection by using a heated dryer, if allowed per the manufacturer's care label. Ray Bloc does contain a small amount of Aqua Armor but if you need the strongest waterproofing protection possible, we recommend picking up a bottle of Aqua Armor.
SPF vs UPF:
Sunscreens for the skin tend to get absorbed by the skin so they need to be reapplied every 20-30 minutes. Wearing UPF protected clothing means hours of protection without any decrease in the protection level. Additionally most sunscreens only filter UVB radiation not UVA while UPF protected clothing filters both UVA and UVB. UPF treated clothing also protects all of the skin under the clothes which is 70%-80% of the skin surface.
